  • Depending upon scheduling and availability, winners may also have the opportunity to take part in an author signing & reading at a future AWP convention.

2020 Reading Period Results

We are beyond excited to announce three new upcoming publications!

One Person Holds So Much Silence by David Greenspan

by Niki Tulk

Fit to be Tied by Sara Moore Wagner

All three of these collections have all been selected for publication, and we could not be happier to share these three wonderful collections with the world. One Person Holds So Much Silence blossoms with surprising, jaw-dropping language from poem to poem (available for preorder now). O is a stark fable that reveals the real-world trauma of sexual assault through the fantastical. Finally, Fit to be Tied is a harrowing examination of drug addiction and the experiences of womanhood in a rural, small-town setting.

We would also like to thank the following finalists, whose work stood out to us:

  • Robin Gow’s Stained Glass Rifle

  • Laura Bandy's CINEMA

  • Heather Bartlett's Another Word for Hunger

  • Carolyn Oliver's Inside the Storm I Want to Touch the Tremble

Lastly, we want to extend our warmest gratitude to everyone who submitted to the contest. We can't wait to begin reading more full-length collections; submissions are open now.

2019 Reading Period Results

We are beyond excited to announce the upcoming publication of Erin Carlyle's full-length collection Magnolia Canopy Otherworld. Erin's poetry explores the abuses, struggles, and perseverance of her own life and other women's lives against the backdrop of the American South and all the grotesque beauty of its natural geography.

Magnolia Canopy Otherworld will release on December 15th 2020, but in the meantime, check out the image to the right: a sneak preview of the stunning cover! Preorder her book at our online store. We would also like to thank the following finalists, whose work stood out to us:

  • Robin Gow’s No Escape

  • Amber Shockley’s Seafarer

  • Ben Kline’s Twang

Lastly, we want to extend our warmest gratitude to everyone who submitted to the contest. We had a lengthy list of semi-finalists, all of whom have been notified via email and will surely find publication soon.
